Alida Botha Physiotherapy Practice has been located at Life Groenkloof Hospital since 2001.

We treat a wide range of patients, with a special focus on neuromusculoskeletal conditions, oncology rehabilitation—particularly breast cancer care—and the management of lymphoedema.

Our patients receive evidence-based, patient-centred, high-quality care. We follow a holistic approach that addresses your condition using a range of techniques within our professional scope of practice. Rehabilitation Post- Breast Surgery

Physiotherapy with a Special Interest in Post-Breast Surgery Rehabilitation

Recovery after breast surgery can involve a range of physical challenges. At our practice, we help you address common post-operative concerns, including:

  • Reduced mobility in the operated arm including axillary cording issues
  • Decreased muscle strength and function in the arm and shoulder girdle
  • Tightness across the chest wall or restrictive scar tissue

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral letter from my doctor?

No, generally a referral is not required, as we are first-line practitioners.
However, if you are an oncology patient and wish for us to obtain authorisation for physiotherapy under oncology benefits, you will need to bring a referral letter from your oncologist.
If we find that your condition falls outside our scope of practice, we will provide an appropriate referral to another specialist.

Does the practice charge medical aid tariffs?

Yes. All treatments can be claimed through your medical aid if you have available savings, or if PMB authorisation has been obtained.
If funds are not available, the account must be settled privately.

How long do sessions last?

Session duration depends on the condition being treated. Approximate times are:
Respiratory treatments: 30 minutes
Musculoskeletal treatments: 45–60 minutes
Lymphoedema sessions: 60 minutes

What should I bring to my physiotherapy appointment?
  • Medical aid card and ID/drivers license
  • Referral letter from your doctor (if applicable)
  • Radiological tests or reports (X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs)
